CHATWIN ENGINEERING CONGRATULATES THE HUU-AY-AHT FIRST NATIONS.

Date: September 21, 2007 03:15 PM (PST)

On July 28 the Huu-ay-aht First Nations ratified a new Treaty with the Province of British Columbia and Canada by a vote of 90%.  The Huu-ay-aht First Nations have their traditional territory in the Bamfield area on the West coast of Vancouver Island.

Chief Robert Dennis and his counsel have successfully negotiated one of the first modern day Treaties.  They developed a very successful communication campaign to inform their members of the details of the Treaty which resulted in the successful ratification vote.

Huu-ay-aht First Nations have been clients of Chatwin Engineering for the past 20 years and they look forward to being a partner with them as they move forward on their journey to implementing this Treaty.

The Treaty is with the Malnulth First Nation which also includes the Toquaht First Nations, Uchucklesaht Tribe, the Ucluelet First Nations and the Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’/Che:k:tles7et’h’ First Nations.  Those First Nations will begin with their ratification in the middle of October.
