Central Vancouver Island Transmission Project (CVI) Harewood West and Lantzville Substations (2009-2010)

Chatwin’s Environmental Services Division was retained by the project’s general contractor United Group Canada Ltd. to provide Environmental Monitoring services for two major components of BC Hydro’s Central Vancouver Island Transmission Project; the construction of a new substation at Harewood West and the expansion of an existing substation in Lantzville and new and upgraded telecommunication towers. 

The purpose of daily monitoring was to ensure that the work was carried out in accordance with the project’s Environmental Management Plan completed by Golder Associates and relevant regulations.  Environmental services included the completion of task-specific Environmental Protection Plans, on-site sediment and erosion control plans, water quality monitoring and daily and weekly on-site monitoring and reporting.
