This private residence in the Midlands of Victoria, was designed by an award-winning interior designer. To ensure that the exterior would be as sound as the interior was beautiful, the designer and contractor hired Chatwin Engineering to assist with the rain screen and exterior design. We worked as key contributors to their design-build team.
This $4.5M home had unique design challenges such as hidden gutters interrupted by dormers. In addition to architectural cementicious stucco, integration of a proprietary precast ceramic tiles with stainless steel furring at columns and at the building’s base exist. The windows and doors are of wood with pre-attached wood sills and trim, making for challenging but ultimately fully-concealed waterproofing connections.
Chatwin designed a ventilated roofline assembly, covered by a non-penetrating clip-style pre-cast concrete sections with ornamental tile to provide maximum protection and minimal “visual interruption”.
The homeowner was so pleased with the finished look, that she brought our people back for a private tour of her home when it was compete.
